In August Conservative MP Michael Gove came under fire when he accused lads’ mags such as Zoo and Nuts for an increase in the amount of reckless fatherhood.

Gove, the Shadow Home Secretary argued that the magazines promote irresponsible behaviour from men in their pursuit of women, claiming them they show them to be “uncomplicatedly available” and says the magazines promote a “selfish irresponsibility”.

Training for a big sporting event can often be gruelling, especially one so physically demanding as rowing. Early mornings, rowing in freezing cold conditions throughout the winter, eating the 'right' things and avoiding temptation are all part of a Herculean training schedule that to mere mortals like myself and most of the lazy students I kick about with, would only be considered possible after five or six jars and a bag of Haribo Starmix. Ahem.

While the names of some societies are self-explanatory (Aerospace, Anime, Racing), there are others which are mysteries even for third year students.
