Security
It is always worth thinking about the security of your bike whenever you leave it unattended.
Cycle locks can be found at most cycle shops, don't leave home without one!
One basic security measure is to get your bike security tagged by the police. The police will do this free of charge, contact your nearest police station for details.
Some simple tips to keep your bike safe include:
-Always, always, always lock your bike when you leave it unattended.
-Lock both the frame and any quick released wheels (usually the front) to a fixed object.
-Make sure that you remove any detachable items. These may include lights, saddles and baskets. Quick-release items are easy to steal and it is extremely annoying if this happens.
-Be careful where you leave your bike. Near other bikes in a lit bike park or bike ring is ideal. However, leaving your bike outside a pub late at night or down an unlit alley on its own is not so wise. Assess every situation.
-Don't leave anything in your panniers. You wouldn't leave items in a bag unattended, so why leave anything in your panniers?
