Cycling Guide by the People and Planet Society.
Why cycle?
Environmentally friendly. Less cars = less pollution and less congestion. A car travelling 40 miles a week burns around a tonne of CO2 every year.
Purchasing a bike
Obviously, purchasing your bike is a massively important part of cycling. Buying an efficient, reliable bike that you can form a good relationship with is a must. Buying second-hand bikes can save you heaps, but you take a slight risk in buying second-hand from private sellers, as they aren't necessarily road worthy and most likely have no guarantee.
Repairs/Maintenance
Maintenance of your bike is essential. The bike will run smoother and encounter fewer problems if it is looked after.
Security
It is always worth thinking about the security of your bike whenever you leave it unattended.
Maps/Routes
Bristol cycle maps are available from all UWE libraries; if this is not the case please contact uwepeopleandplanet@yahoo.co.uk .
Safety
There are several measures one can take to ensure optimum safety on your bike.
Campus facilities
There are plenty of campus facilities like Bike Storage, Lockers, Showers etc
