Personal Profile

Learn a bit about Dom's history, how he got here & some of the things he has achieved in life.

Dom was born in Cuckfield, Sussex in 1987 and grew up spending time in Italy and England. He went to School in Sussex, living in Brighton for several years

He is a currently taking a sabbatical year in-between his studies at UWE where he is reading Politics, International Relations and Sociology.

When he was 15, Dom independently spent a month in India doing charity work and was awarded the Dianna Princess of Wales Memorial Award in 2001 for his contributions to his local community and for succeeding against the odds.

In March of 2007 Dom was elected as the Student Representative President of UWE Students' Union. Dom begun his union adventure as an SSH (formally HLSS) student rep becoming Chair of his faculty and then elected member of UWE Academic Board.

Through this role Dom is a member of the Universities Board of Governors and now, due to recent unforeseen circumstances, he is a member of the Governors Search Committee, charged with the job of appointing a new Vice Chancellor. As well as this, his elected position places him as a trustee of UWE Students' Union, a direct representative of the students and an active member of NUS. (National Union of Students)

He also provides contributions to UWE's student experience program, plus work on student transport, student accommodation and UWE's federation programme. He also represents students on various council, police and independent public groups. And he assists in providing support to freshers, post-grad, international and mature students throughout the year.

At the tender age of 20 years, Dom still has a lot to do with his life and UWE is only the beginning!
