About Dom Passfield

Ok then, myself. My name is Dom Passfield, I'm your Student Representative President for this year. What can I say? What I want to do is make sure your time here is all about you, the students. If you have just arrived in Bristol then welcome to one of the best cities in the country! I must warn you, you won't think that for a while, it took me about a year to realise how great it is here. Then it suddenly hits you and you realised how much of a bubble it was living anywhere else! 2nd and 3rd years you know what I am talking about!

This year I'm going to let you ALL know what the Students' Union is about and more importantly everything we can offer you. There is so much to tap into in the Students Union: we have bars, shops, a radio station, a newspaper, sports clubs, societies, an advice centre, student course reps, the JobShop and we organise your Freshers' Festival and the events.

There is some controversial stuff going on within UWE at the moment. I have taken on Accommodation and Transport under my remit. So I am going to keep an eye on the launch of the new bus service, which is a huge test for the University. And I am making sure that the re-development of many of Unites student halls in the city centre are is up to scratch. Also the introduction of GDP, mainly affecting you first years might see some rebellion and the completion of the new nursery on Frenchay campus is nearly upon us. So quite a busy time ahead!

But aside from all that, I want to make sure that all of you know that our organisation is run FOR the students BY the students. We are here to better the whole student experience and no matter what sort of student you are, fresh from college or a mature student, black or white, international or local, gay or straight, studying nursing or engineering, on any campus, you are all our students and I represent EVERY one of you - and you are here to use us.
