Volunteer

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and it looks great on your CV. There are a number of ways you can get involved while at UWE including:

Check out the links below and with any luck there will be something for you to get stuck in to. If there is something else you would like to do that is not mentioned here then please get in contact with Helen Seacombe to discuss your thoughts.

Ave It! Scheme

The Ave It! scheme is open to all student union volunteers and is here to recognise and reward the worthwhile work that you do for your activity.

Community Volunteer Programme

Your Students' Union will be working closely with the UWE Community Volunteer Programme (CVP) who help UWE students and staff to find fantastic volunteering opportunities; helping out the local community or doing volunteering related to your studies or future career.

The Joint University Initiative for Coach Education (JUICE) offers officiating and generic coach development courses such as child protection issues in a coaching environment, and offers some subsidies for those who use their new skills to volunteer in the community.

Volunteering Facts

Volunteering isn't something that hippies or the retired get involved in anymore (although I'm sure they still do their bit). Take a look at some of these facts and see if they don't change your mind.

UWESU Sports Fun Day

On Tuesday 11th November 2008, there was another Kids Spectacular Sports Day, building on the success of one that happened in 2007. 4 Student Union Sports Clubs/Societies: Netball, Women's Basketball, Volleyball and COMETS cheerleading ran sessions for a class of local infant school children...

Everyone involved had a brilliant day!

Another Sports and Activity Day is due to take place in March 2009.

Junction49 is looking for people to help on the day and also for sports clubs and societies who would like to run workshops for the children. Last term's event was very successful and lots of fun, so get involved!
