This has information about staying in the UK as well as useful information specifically for international students. There are useful contacts that you can use for getting further advice. If you are working, or about to start, and your employer has a query about eligibility to work you can get employer information on this site and it describes what different passport stamps mean.

Includes information about the Race Relations Act which makes it unlawful to discriminate against anyone on grounds of race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), or ethnic or national origin. National Association of Student Employment Staff (NASES)
This site contains useful information about the Student Employment sector and a comprehensive list of UK Student Employment Services or Jobshops. Many of these can be used by University of Edinburgh students during the summer months - check under the "mutual aid" listing shown for each service. Services offering mutual aid allow you to use them in the vacation to find work.
