Assessment Offences
The University Academic Regulations make provision for allegations of assessment offences to be investigated.
These offences are usually dealt with under the following headings: Plagiarism, Collusion, Cheating
The University Student Handbook will provide you with the exact procedure to go through if you are ever asked to help with an investigation, or indeed you have been accused of an assessment offence. The Students' Union Advice Centre leaflet produces a condensed summary of the rules and procedure you can expect to be followed.
If you receive a letter from your faculty then we urge you to get in touch with us as soon as possible. We can make sure that the procedures are followed correctly, we can help you draft a letter in response to an allegation and we can also accompany you to a meeting. There are various deadlines involved with assessment offences so it is important that you do not ignore letters you get; if you contact us straight away we can support you!
The Students' Union Advice Centre also produces an information leaflet, entitled 'Assessment Offences' which you can pick up from the Advice Centre or your Campus Office.
