New Building

UWE Farmhouse

The University are currently experiencing delays in clearing the new building's planning application. The local Council have highlighted a nearby building of significant heritage. The UWE Farmhouse, home to the Vice Chancellor's Executive Team, is a Grade II listed building, giving the South Gloucestershire Council Planning Department reason to be concerned over the visual impact of our nearby building.

Above, you can see an outline of the new building in its proposed location. Shortly, we should be able to publish some more rendered drawings to give a realistic impression of the building's actual impact to the Farmhouse. Much work is going into overcoming the Council's concerns, including minor changes to its visual appearance and exact proximity.

The University are predicting delays up to 12 months over the initial September 2013 opening date. Ground was initially planned to be "broken" early September 2012. With that, we are extending Phase 3 of the consultation and feedback stage until further notice, meaning you have much more time to get involved and submit your ideas over what you would like to see in your new building.
