E-Voting FAQs

We use an evoting system that requires the UWE systems login and password to verify that you are a current UWE student.

Your UWE systems password is also refered to as your LDAP or Blackboard or UWEOnline login. If you have never changed your systems password then it will be the same as your original password. This password is typically a random combination of upper and lowercase letters and numbers, for example it may look something like this 'hSk46a' unless you have changed it.

Make sure your also read the info on How 2 E-vote

Or if you are still having problems email suweb@uwe.ac.uk with details.

I don't have modules on Blackboard?

It doesn't matter all UWE students can login to Blackboard to view general materials published by UWE's library. Therefore ALL UWE students have been added to login/password system called LDAP, which the e-voting system uses.

I'm a Cems student, and the helpdesk told me it couldn't give me my LDAP/Blackboard details?

Your need to go to the Cems Faculty Admin desk in N block not the Cems computer helpdesk in P block.

Why do you have to vote in order of preference? I only want to vote for one person!

You don't have to express a preference for all candidates. If you just want to vote for for one candidate then just give this candidate your first preference. You don't have to specify any other preferences.

I'm a research student, can I vote? I can't log-on to blackboard (as a student) because I'm not registered with any modules that use blackboard. Can I still vote in the elections?

If you do have a student login then you can vote online no problem. Having modules on blackboard or not is not an issue. All students logins work on blackboard/LDAP as the library has added learning materials that they want available to all students.

But if you don't have a student login.
Our system recognises your status (student or staff) as defined by UWE in their records system. So if you definitely don't have a student login please contact the deputy returning officer Nerys.neath@uwe.ac.uk . We can then set up a special login for you.
