The Returning Officer is responsible for the good conduct and administration of the elections and has sole authority to interpret the election rules without further challenge.

We use an evoting system that requires the UWE systems login and password to verify that you are a current UWE student. Your UWE systems password is also refered to as your LDAP or Blackboard or UWEOnline login. If you have never changed your systems password then it will be the same as your original password. This password is typically a random combination of upper and lowercase letters and numbers, for example it may look something like this 'hSk46a' unless you have changed it.

The Union uses the Transferable Vote System in their elections. It can be quite a confusing system if you have not come across it before and even if you have you may find that you need to explain it to those who might vote for you. The purpose of this briefing is to ensure that all candidates in the elections understand the system and to make sure you know what the Returning Officer and Polling Assistants are up to during the count
