What is the SRC?

The Student Representative Council (SRC) canvasses and identifies the views of the student members of the University relating to their educational experience. It is made up from members from each faculty, the SRC Vice President, and is chaired by the SRC President.

Each elected chair of Faculty Student Council sits on the Student Representative Council, along with 3 other elected students from each faculty. With the two elected Presidents, the maximum membership of the SRC is 42 members.

SRC meets 5 times a year, normally 2 weeks after each round of Faculty Student Councils. The purpose of the Council is to consider reports and issues from the faculties that are best considered on a university wide level. The SRC has also been used by the university to consult on new initatives, and therefore the SRC will report back to the FSCs other developments in the university that they may not be aware of. The SRC also elects student members to university level committees such as the Academic Board.
