Dom's Election Manifesto - 2007

Election Manifesto from 2007

Personal Profile

First of all, do not forget my promise to UWE, 'I will be there for ALL students.' Ok then, myself. I am simply a friendly, open, honest guy who wants to work his a*se off for you lot. I have been through a lot of real life stuff in my 19 years, (But who hasn't) This has given me the confidence and ability that will help me to push the students' corner. I am an approachable person, who really cares about UWE and I have been told I smile a lot, (look at my posters!) So remember students, Vote Dom!

Manifesto

Ok, What will I do as SRC President? Why vote Dom?

Well I could tell you the usual stuff about what I do/ have done"¦. I am involved in the Students Union, write for the student newspaper and I am chair of HLSS student council. But if I am honest, I would have to say the reason I am standing is that I am convinced UWE is a great University. But there is so much more to do. The problem is UWE treats us students as just a number. The powers that be are so concerned with research, business and image they forget about their 30.000 students.

So much more attention needs to be given to transport; the awful service of First, the state of the car parks and the rubbish facilities for cyclists all need sorting.
Timetabling is a joke; there needs to be a complete review of deadlines, exam dates and day to day learning. More money needs to be obtained for our Students Union to make it stronger and more influential. Bristol University's Student Union receives much more funding for a third of the students we have.

Being a multi-campus university makes us great. But smaller campus should not be referred to as 'satellite' campus of Frenchay, but as centres of excellence in their fields. Also the need for more facilities for the student village, personal tutors, more computers in libraries and more recycling all need sorting.

I am the student to do it. Simple.
VOTE DOM
