About our new website

This is part of the planned move of all of our site to the UWE based server. It should provide us not only with a faster website but allow us to link up our membership database and other seperate systems.
A Proffesional Content Management System

• The site is using a proffesional content management system (CMS) Ez Publish which is a major improvement on our current publishing system.

• This new system allows all editors to easily create content but not just simple articles it also allows you easily to add more complex types of content such as
  • feedback forms
  • polls
  • blogs
  • image galleries
  • discussion forums
  • and much more

New content and structure

• New structure and sections reflect the constitutional changes of the SU. E.g. Reps, Sports, Activities.

• A staff / officer directory under the contacts section. Contact Us

• Addition of information about Bristol in the Guide section

Homepage
With so many parts to the SU getting the balance right on the homepage is a very tricky task. The homepage design is NOT complete, you will see more changes and improvements to come.
That said the homepage has the following new features...

• Better use of content from other parts of the SU websites. e.g. latest foum posts, random photo from photoalbums, events listing from calendar all on the homepage.
• A live news systems, so that latest news articles are displayed directly on the homepage. This can be done by ANY editor not just the "techie nerds" as we are affectionately called in the media centre.

You may/may not be aware that website accessibility for different types of users is a legal requirement under the Disability Discrimination Act.
