History: Boring school subject or hot debates relevant to today?
The History Society exists to promote History not as a taught subject, but as something that can be enjoyed by anyone! The Society arranges trips to historical venues, talks by eminent historians, on subject ranging from ‘Making Time Team’ to ‘Sodomy in History’, theatre trips and film screenings.
The Society holds the 2007 ‘Best Trip Award’ for our ‘Walking tour of Medieval Bristol’ and the 2008 trip Award’ for our ‘Welsh Castles Tour’. Next year’s trips include Avebury and the Science Museum Depot at Wroughton.
Where They Train / Meet
The Society hold regular social events in SU bars , we occasionally meet in one of the historic pubs in the centre of Bristol.
