Bus Pass Prices

Postby k2-edgar on Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:31 pm

I Surely cannot be the only one at UWE who is annoyed at the new prices of the bus passes.... £250 for a 3 term pass! The fact that we're paying over £3000 to attend this university when just a few years ago students weren't even paying £2000 should give us some benefits. £250, for a bus service which is rarely on time, and is usually pretty cruddy. £150 would be a much better price and more exceptable... if you think about how much this place is getting per hundred students who use this transport facility. They are surely rolling it in from bus prices alone, forgetting tuition fees and accomodation fees.

Its is annoying yes perhaps you could raise it at the AGM, but personally I also find large pink letters annoying.
It could only be more awesome if it had tits and was on fire

I think you need to be a little more intelligent when it comes to working out what bus pass you get. The 3-term pass only saves you money if you're in 5 days a week*, 4 days a week or less and it's cheaper to get a smartcard and top it up. So wait until you get your timetable, do the maths, and quit whinging. No one is forcing you to buy a £250 3 term pass.

*based on the standard UWE calendar excluding freshers week and assessment periods.

Sorry if you find pink letters annoying but it was my first post and I was playing around.
All i'm saying is that regardless of what pass you buy it's still pretty expensive... It just seems that they forget that students can't afford everything.

You seem to be implying that the university don't then spend any money...? Just because they might sell 1000 bus passes at £250 each doesn't mean that they are then going to sit on all that cash, seems to me there is quite a lot of investment. People don't complain about that though.
