Cycle to uni email

I'm sure you all got the cycle to uni email from Steve West (Transport) encouraging students to cycle to uni.

Anyone else think this message was badly timed with all the other emails we've been getting about stolen bicycles, and students being confronted by potential muggers down quite foot paths. I refer obviously to the suggestion of using the one round the back of the MOD which can be very quiet even in summer months. With daylight hours shorting I can't help but wonder if this is the best advice to be giving, despite the good intentions.

Yeah my flatmate has his front wheel stolen on Monday so he bought a new one, then had his entire bike stolen this F0riday.

I do think the uni need to install CCTV or put a swipe card access wall in the P block bike park like the tiny new one next the the student shop.

But they have done sod all in since the start of the year and at least 30 bike have been stolen now I think.
