UWE Students' Union - enhancing the student experience - www.uwesu.org

Student representation recruitment begins

The University and the Students' Union are now recruiting student reps for the 07/08 academic year. Over the summer, returning students have been expressing their interest in the role, and combined with applications made over Freshers' week over 200 students have put themselves forward to be a student representative.

Student reps play a vital role in the university, feeding back on issues ranging from the content and quality of modules, to the accessibility of computer rooms, to problems with the car park. Student reps are a recognised way for students to have their voice heard, and they are taken seriously by the university.

For those students who become student reps, it offers a great opportunity for students to get behind the scenes of the university, meet new people - both other students and academics, and gain valuable skills and experiences. Of course, the majority of students in the university won't become reps, and for those who don't it is important to remember that the reps are there to represent them, and students need to make sure they seek out and use the reps to give feedback.

For those students interested in becoming a rep, then further information is available within the reps section through this link . Please note at this time of year spaces can become limited on some courses, and at time of writing we have already filled almost 300 spaces, however that should not put you off contacting both your Students' Union and your programme leader to enquire!
