Further Info about the Arts Group....
The SU’s of the UK’s creative institutions have long felt that we deserve the opportunity be recognized collectively as a source of policy and consultancy. Attempts have been made in the past, and failed, to found something along these lines.
We are aiming for the inaugural meeting of the Arts Group (working title) to be on November 19th, and have already received commitments from the SUs of the RCA (who instigated the group’s formation with SUARTS), the Courtauld Institute, Central School of Speech & Drama, Goldsmiths, Bournemouth, UCA, and Edinburgh.
We expect to receive affirmative responses from other significant institutions soon and look forward to the possibilities this group may have to provide a national voice for Arts students and present ourselves as worthy of serious recognition on the political stage. From a culture of working for free, to sitting at the bottom of the graduate earnings table, arts students are losing out – and we want this to change.
