Overview:

To help UWESU in our commitment to supporting and representing students in the community. To help identify and feed back issues affecting students’ lives in your designated area. To work to improve communication and understanding between students and more permanent residents by active involvement in local groups, committees and projects.

Increase your confidence by working with a broad group of people and gain a valuable insight into community life. Gain experience of working on community projects, networking and multi-agency working. Learn and develop excellent transferable skills to enhance your CV. Receive a bursary of £350 per year for your commitment.

You will be required to:

  • Actively seek out and represent the views of students in your area
  • Regularly liaise with designated community groups
  • Attend monthly meetings with the Activities President and Glenside Campus Administrator
  • Attend training sessions run by UWESU
  • Work with UWESU on community campaigns and initiatives promoting key information and positive contribution.
  • Act in accordance with UWESU policy.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Able to communicate confidently and effectively but is also receptive and a good listener
  • Sensitive to individual needs and keen to represent those who may not feel able to voice their concerns
  • Creative and motivated with a real interest in the community agenda and a desire to work with other students and other contacts from all backgrounds
