Junction49 - Get involved!
Junction49 in your student union is here to help you put your ideas for projects, events and campaigns into reality.
As long as your idea benefits your community in some way and is beneficial to those involved, then Junction49 can help. Junction49 encourages student led volunteering and focusses on those aged 18-25. It can provide you with funds of up to £750 to help you set up your project, and your Volunteer Support Officer, Helen Seacombe, based in the Sports and Activities Centre, is on hand to support and help you with putting your ideas into practice.
Even if you don't have your own idea a the moment but want to get involved in volunteering, read on...
Opportunities to get involved in:
Do you want to get involved in volunteering but don't have much time? Then take part in a Volunteering taster session or a one-off...
Christmas Shoeboxes:
Junction49 volunteers are making Christmas shoeboxes to send to children in Bulgaria, via a Bristol based charity, CORF who do work there. Boxes have to be made and completed by 15th November, so they can be sent to Bulgaria.
For more information about making a box and what to put in them, check out http://junction49.com/idea/1769/uwe_students_christmas_shoeboxes_for_children/
Sports Day:
11th November is Kids Spectacular Sports Day. A class of junior school children are coming to UWE for a fun taster of university sport, including women's basketball, women's netball, Jui Jitsu, badminton and COMETS. As well as volunteers from these sports clubs volunteers are also needed to join in on the day, and supervise the children while they are having their lunch. In the afternoon they are having a campus tour. If you'd also like to be involved in this, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Winterbourne Barn:
Did you know that just down the road from Frenchay campus is a Medieval barn, dating back to the 1300s? If you're interested in history and conservation work, come along on Saturday 15th November to the barn. In October some Junction49 volunteers did some conservation work at the barn and really enjoyed it. If you'd like to go along, get in touch and you can be added to the list.
