NUS Conferences Delegation

I, Nerys Neath, being the Deputy Returning Officer for the UWE Students’ Union, hereby give notice that nominations open on the 10th October for the election of UWESU’s NUS Conferences Delegation.

Information

UWESU affiliates to the National Union of Students and therefore is Constituent Member and entitled to elect a delegation of up to 15 student members to attend the Annual Conference, South West Regional Conferences and any Extraordinary Conferences which may occur throughout 2008/09 academic year.

NUS Annual Conference

The sovereign body of the National Union of Students is the Annual Conference and it takes place each spring. This years Annual Conference is to be held in Winter Gardens, Blackpool from the 31st March – 2nd April 2009.

National Conference sets the policy of NUS. Motions are submitted under the following headings Education, Welfare, Union Development, Global Citizenship, Reform and Miscellaneous. Elections are held for the offices of the National Executive and Steering Committees.

NUS South Regional Conference

1st event - Surrey University 30th October 2008.

NUS hold regional conferences across the UK to discuss current issues effecting students and Students Union both nationally and regionally. It is an excellent opportunity to network with other student officers and representatives and also to meet nationally elected officers.
