P&P Meet next Tues 14th Oct. Yeeehaaaa.

Greetings to one and all,

We had a really good meeting last week with a good turn out and discussed lots of events and campaigns that we can get stuck into. All exciting stuff, so we're gonna keep up the momentum and have another meeting next week same time, same place. So that's Tuesday 14th from 8pm at The Full Moon Pub. We had lots to talk about last week so below are the events coming up in the next few weeks and at some point we will put together all of the events coming up in
the year in a nice comprehensible calendar. Lovely. Below whis I have put a small agenda together of things we would like to talk about on Tues and if you have anything to add to this then please bring it along and add it to the agenda. The direction the group takes is entirely up to all of us, there are no leaders, so get stuck in! We will have plenty of time to have a pint and chat too just in case you're wondering :)
Climate Camp Ahoy!

Hi everyone, sorry for mass mailings but I'd like to let you know the latest infomation about the Camp for Climate Action at Kingsnorth in Kent which begins in a few days:

Come for as long or as little as you like, but if possible make sure to be there on Saturday 9th, for an inspiring day of mass action (see:
http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/massaction). The camp is easily accessible; the nearest train station is only 50 minutes
from Central London. Tent space will be available for those arriving the night before the day of action.

This is probably the best opportunity we have to really kick-start a huge social movement in this country capable of
avoiding casatrophic climate change. It may also be the most amazing and inspirational week of your life. We need you
there!

WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/workshops

This year's workshop timetable is the best ever with over 200 workshops covering everything from climate science to vegan cake baking through to the role of banks in the fossil fuel economy and how to plan successful direct action. With
speakers including George Monbiot, Caroline Lucas MEP, this timetable is probably the biggest and most comprehensive
Climate Change workshops programme we've assembled! Best of all, the programme is highly participatory with each session leaving plenty of time for debate not just passive listening. With windmills powering our laptops and ecological systems to clean our dirty dish water there will also be plenty of opportunities to learn hands on skills too.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Easy. Jump on a train at either Charing Cross or Victoria and under an hour
later arrive at Strood. We will be running shuttle buses from Strood to the
camp (a few miles). See the latest travel updates at
http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/node/11

WHAT TO BRING?

Your friends, a tent, basic camping equipment, and a sense of adventure. All
food is provided on camp and is very healthy and tasty so please don't bring
cooking equipment. But do bring a mug, plate and cutlery, and insect
repellent if you plan to go near the estuary! Other useful things are a
small radio so you can listen to the climate camps radio station and catch
up with all the camp news!

IMPORTANT DATES

Sunday August 3th: March and Camp set up. We'll all make the camp happen together.
Monday August 4th-10th: Workshops, networking and action training.
Wednesday August 6th: Day of Small Group Actions against Agrofuels Saturday August 9th: Day of Mass Action against
Kingsnorth coal-fired power station Monday August 11th: Help return the camping field back to nature.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS, SPREAD THE WORD AND COME JOIN US AT THE CLIMATE CAMP -- 3-11 AUGUST. KINGSNORTH.

Hi everyone, here we are on the second day of Sustainability Week and there's much going on up in fishponds on St. Matts Campus if your in the area:

The SU bar will be playing host to stalls including; Permaculture, organic growing, seed swaps, ethical campaigning and Transition Towns. Come and find out what it's all about!

at 4pm Sarah Pugh from Transition Bristol will be giving a talk about peak oil and community based solutions to energy and food security. A powerful introduction to the challenges that we face- inspiring, not depressing!

at 2:30 pm there will be a film being shown in the bar leading up to sarahs talk- 'the power of community' looking at how cuba coped with a loss of oil supply from soviet russia- this is widely deemed as the 'canary in the coal mine' for what might lie ahead for the rest of the world...

People and Planet will be there running 'carbon calculators' allowing you to work out the CO2 emissions from your everyday activities- how odes your carbon footprint compare to your mates?

Hope to see you there!

PS- No meeting tonight
