UWE Students' Union - enhancing the student experience - www.uwesu.org

Want to make a complaint about the conduct of a UWESU member or an officer then use this e-mail form? The complaint will go directly to the SRC President.

Any member of the Union (or other person who has cause) who wishes to lodge a complaint about an individual or group of individuals in respect of any incident which took place on Union premises, or any event organised by the Union or within the auspices of the Union may do so through the following procedure.

  • The complaint must be submitted in writing (within 20 working days of the occurrence) to the SRC President (or in that officer's absence, to the SRC Vice President). Where the complaint, after investigation, warrants disciplinary action, this will be covered by the Procedure governing the disciplining of members which is set out in separate regulations.

  • In the event of unruly or objectionable conduct by any person on Union premises any member of the Executive Committee or any person authorised by the Executive Committee, may require that person to leave Union premises forthwith.

  • The Education Act 1994 requires that there should be a Complaints Procedure available to any individual or group of students who are either dissatisfied in their dealings with the Students' Union or who claim to have been unfairly disadvantaged by reason of their having exercised their right not to be in membership. Complaints shall be dealt with promptly within the timescale in the regulations.

  • There shall be a Procedure (set down in the rules) which involves an informal conciliatory stage, a formal stage and an appeal stage within the Students' Union.

  • There will then be a right for the complaint to be heard within the University, with a final reference to an "independent person" appointed by the Governors.

  • The Complaints Procedure shall not apply to elections conducted under the Elections Rules, or to issues related to employment, disciplinary and grievance matters.

  • The only further appeal available is the right of complaint to the University Board of Governors. In accordance with the Education act of 1994, the Governors will appoint an independent person to hear the complaint.
