The Ave It! scheme is open to all student union volunteers and is here to recognise and reward the worthwhile work that you do for your activity.
If you are on a club or society committee, volunteer for the student media centre, or are leading a student led volunteering project you can join.
Taking on a voluntary role while you are a student is a fantastic way to develop skills such as time management, communication, interpersonal skills and financial management that will be vital to employment after your degree.
Ave It! (which stands for Accreditation of Volunt Eers In Transferable skills) is a way for you to recognise and record the time and effort you have put in to make your activity a success.
Working in association with Young Bristol we offer certification from the nationally recognised government volunteer scheme, V . The scheme awards you for the hours you have put into your volunteering and helps you to assess the skills you have gained.
Extra training
To help you to present what you have experienced and achieved through your volunteering, on your CV and in interviews, there will be further (optional) training sessions on enhancing employability which you can take part in. Watch this space for more information.
How do I join?
It's easy to get started: just download the registration form and send it to helen.seacombe@uwe.ac.uk . Then all you need to do is send in the hours you spend doing volunteering activities every fortnight or so. At the end of the year, at either the Sports Awards Dinner or the Activities Awards Evening, you'll be presented with a certificate of your total hours.
For further information on how to get involved with the scheme, contact Helen Seacombe, Ave It! Programme Manager, on: helen.seacombe@uwe.ac.uk
