The RAG committee chooses a small number of charities that will benefit from the events that we run throughout the year. Our charities for 2007 - 2008 can be seen here .
- This year, the charities we are supporting are:
Health Unlimited
Vision: A world in which the poorest and most marginalised enjoy their right to health.
Mission: We work with communities, service providers, policy makers and donors in difficult environments in Africa, Asia and Latin America to secure access to effective primary health care for marginalised people affected by conflict, instability or discrimination.
National Aids Trust
The National AIDS Trust is the UK's leading independent policy and campaigning charity on HIV. We develop policies and campaign to halt the spread of HIV and improve the quality of life of people affected by HIV, both in the UK and internationally.
Our Vision:
Our vision is a world in which people know how to protect themselves from HIV infection and people living with HIV are diagnosed early, treated with respect, dignity, and justice, and receive the highest standards of care.
Our Approach:
We believe we can make a lasting and positive impact on the greatest number of lives by working to influence and inform the attitudes, behaviour and decisions of governments, organisations and individuals.
Our Strategic Aims:
All our work is focussed on achieving four strategic aims:
- Effective HIV prevention in order to halt the spread of HIV
- Early diagnosis of HIV through ethical, accessible and appropriate testing
- Equity of access to treatment, care and support for people living with HIV
- Eradication of HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal
Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal was founded in 1995, to raise £11 million towards the planned £22 million cost of the new Royal Hospital for Children in Bristol. In the end, in addition to the £11 million, we also raised an extra £1 million towards a wonderful programme of art in the new hospital.
But we couldn’t have done this without the support of thousands of people, schools, companies and other organisations throughout Bristol and the South West who made it possible. And, of course, our Very Special Friends, Wallace & Gromit!!
Bristol-based Aardman allow the Appeal to use the characters and created our unique banknote logo back in 1996. All this success, means that Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is now established as the charity of choice for many in Bristol and the South West.
